Experience you can trust with a vision for justice that works.
Preston McCollam believes that “applying the law with common sense” means being firm, fair, and focused. He is committed to:
Holding criminals accountable—especially violent offenders and repeat lawbreakers
Centering victims in every decision made by the Prosecutor’s Office
Removing barriers to effective law enforcement to make sure they are able to meaningfully coordinate responses to increasing drugs, gangs, and violent crimes
Expanding alternatives to incarceration —when it serves both justice and public safety
Restoring public confidence in the rule of law
Preston’s approach is practical and principled: responsive to Spokane’s unique challenges, grounded in real-world experience, and rooted in personal accountability.
About Preston
“Safety requires accountability.”
“For over a decade, I have proudly served this community as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, and now as your Spokane County Prosecutor.
I have consistently fought to elevate the voices of crime victims, worked through resource shortages, and focused on the most dangerous offenders in our community.
As a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, a Gonzaga and Eastern Washington University graduate, a husband, and a father of four - all of whom were born right here in Spokane including my brand new baby boy born just a few months ago at Sacred Heart - I share the deep desire that so many of you have: to see Spokane thrive.
I want my children, and yours, to grow up in a community where safety is not a privilege. Everyone in our community should have a fundamental expectation that they can live, work, play, and go to school safely. I will fight for that every day.” - Preston McCollam
Vision & Priorities
-

Public Safety
Spokane residents deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods. To have freedom to thrive and build businesses without fear of crime. As Prosecutor, I will prioritize violent crime, drug trafficking, and crimes against children.
Public safety is not about politics or courtroom appearances. It takes grit and hard work to achieve.
-

Victims' Rights
Justice for all means justice for victims. I have spent my career ensuring that crime victims aren’t forgotten or silenced.
Too often, our system is more concerned about the rights of criminals than the rights of their victims.
I will fight to correct that every day.
-

Law Enforcement Collaboration
I have built trusted relationships with Spokane’s law enforcement agencies, from the SPD to the FBI, to get serious offenders off the streets.
We are strongest when law enforcement and prosecutors work as a team, without barriers, accountable to the people.
-

Common Sense Reform
Reform must not come at the expense of public safety. Law enforcement needs less barriers, not more.
I support rehabilitation and treatment programs when they work, but I will not compromise on safety or excuse repeated harm.
-

Leadership Experience
In a time of national prosecutor shortages, I stepped up to lead Spokane’s criminal division, prioritizing crimes against persons even as we continue to face limited resources.
I’ve never been content with mediocrity. Inspired by the spirit of those who strive, those guided by purpose, not tradition, I bring a practical, unifying approach to solving real problems and delivering what works for Spokane County.
-

Community
I am not running for Prosecutor to build a résumé. I am raising my four kids here. This community is personal to me.
I want to be able to take my kids downtown without fear. That is why I am running.
I am committed to continuing that work as your Spokane County Prosecutor.
